ZDF Fernsehfilme der Woche 2013<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Kurzfassung<\/strong>: eine Analyse der Rollen- und Altersverteilung nach Geschlechtern von den 46 Filmen der ZDF-Reihe \u201eFernsehfilm der Woche\u201c 2012. Wieder einmal gibt es deutlich mehr und \u00e4ltere M\u00e4nner- als Frauenrollen. Ein Hoffnungsschimmer: mehr als 50 % der Besetzungslisten werden von Schauspielerinnen angef\u00fchrt.<\/span><\/p>\n

Montags um 20.15 Uhr l\u00e4uft im Zweiten Programm regelm\u00e4\u00dfig der Fernsehfilm der Woche. Allerdings, wer denkt, in dieser Reihe werden keine Krimi gesendet, t\u00e4uscht sich, denn tats\u00e4chlich gab es 2013 bei den 46 Filmen dieser Rubrik einen 3\/4 Anteil von Krimis und Thrillern. Die Filme wurden – mal wieder – sehr mehrheitlich von M\u00e4nnern inszeniert, der Frauenanteil in der Regie<\/strong> lag bei 9 %<\/span><\/strong> (im Regieverband ist der Anteil 24 %<\/span><\/strong>, in der Abbildung links mit der kleinen gr\u00fcnen Raute dargestellt) und bei den Drehb\u00fcchern<\/strong> sind die entsprechenden Frauenanteile 35 %<\/span><\/strong> (Fernsehfilme) und 40 %<\/strong><\/span> (VDD).
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

\"FFilm13_RegBu_Gen_d\"<\/a>Das bedeutet, dass nur jede 3. Geschichte von einer Frau geschrieben wurde und weniger als jede 10. von einer Frau filmisch umgesetzt wurde.
\nIst das schlimm? Erz\u00e4hlen alle M\u00e4nner Geschichten komplett anders als es alle Frauen tun w\u00fcrden? Nat\u00fcrlich nicht. Aber nat\u00fcrlich<\/em> ist so ein Ungleichgewicht nat\u00fcrlich auch nicht. Es w\u00e4re interessant, einmal die Ausbildungszahlen der Filmhochschulen zu analysieren und mit den Werten aus der Fernseh- und Filmbranche zu vergleichen. Aber das ist ein Thema f\u00fcr einen anderen Tag.
\nWie sah es denn mit der Besetzung<\/strong> aus? Das zeigt das n\u00e4chste Bild der Hauptcasts, wie sie auf der ZDF-Seite Sendungsarchiv Der Fernsehfilm der Woche<\/a> aufgef\u00fchrt sind, mit im Schnitt ungef\u00e4hr 10 Rollen pro Produktion. Links Frauen- und M\u00e4nneranteil insgesamt und rechts bei der jeweils erstgenannten Rolle auf der Besetzungsliste.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"FFilm13_erstg_d\"<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

Das Verh\u00e4ltnis von Frauen<\/span><\/strong>– gegen\u00fcber M\u00e4nnerrollen<\/span> im Hauptcast betr\u00e4gt 1<\/span><\/strong> zu 1,6<\/span>. Bei den erstegenannten Rollen in den jeweiligen Besetzungslisten liegt der Frauenanteil bei<\/strong> 54 %<\/span><\/strong>. So einen hohen Wert hatte ich in all meinen Cast-Auswertungen bislang noch nie.\u00a0 Klar, in einzelnen Filmen gibt es schon Frauenrollen\u00fcbergewichte im Cast oder bei Haupt- oder erstgenannten Rollen. Aber noch nie bei der Betrachtung einer Gruppe von Filmen. Das ist nat\u00fcrlich erw\u00e4hnenswert.
\nEine kleine Einschr\u00e4nkung: Ich habe nicht alle Filme gesehen, kann also nur auf die Beschreibungen auf der ZDF-Seite zur\u00fcckgreifen. Dort gibt es mindestens zwei Filme mit erstgenannter Frauenrolle, in der die Beschreibung sich eher auf die an zweiter Stelle genannte m\u00e4nnliche Hauptfigur bezieht. In beiden F\u00e4llen sind es Filme, die zu Reihen geh\u00f6ren, FREIER FALL und N\u00c4GEL MIT K\u00d6PFEN. FREIER FALL geh\u00f6rt zur Reihe der Stralsundkrimis, die weibliche Hauptrolle Nina Petersen\u00a0(Katharina Wackernagel<\/strong>) taucht in der Beschreibung erst an 6. Stelle auf. Das kann ein Versehen sein, aber auch Anzeichen daf\u00fcr, dass sie generell die erste Hauptfigur der Serie ist, nur in diesem Fall jemand anderes an die 1. Stelle tritt. Ebenso bei N\u00c4GEL MIT K\u00d6PFEN, da ist die weibliche Hauptfigur Petra Koslowski (Ulrike Kriener<\/strong>), und in dieser Folge (es gab schon den Vorl\u00e4ufer BUTTER BEI DIE FISCHE, einen Reihentitel hab ich nicht gefunden) ist Hans-Uwe Petersen\u00a0(Peter Heinrich Brix<\/strong>) im Zentrum der Plotbeschreibung.\u00a0 Das soll jetzt nichts madig machen, ich m\u00f6chte damit nur zu bedenken geben, dass eine Auswertung der erstgenannten Rolle weniger aussagekr\u00e4ftig ist als beispielsweise eine Auswertung der Drehtage aller Schauspieler\/innen eines Films.
\nInteressant w\u00e4ren weitere Auswertungen beispielsweise in Bezug auf die Berufe der Hauptfiguren, aber das ist ein Thema f\u00fcr einen anderen Tag. An dieser Stelle nur so viel: Katharina Wackernagel<\/strong> spielt eine Kriminalkommissarin und Ulrike Kriener<\/strong> eine mit einem Pastor in wilder Ehe lebende \u201eRuhrpottpflanze\u201c und \u201eLebensk\u00fcnstlerin\u201c. Als einzige\u00a0 Berufsbezeichnung fand ich in der Beschreibung des vorangegangenen Teil BUTTER BEI DIE FISCHE immerhin \u201eehemalige Gabelstaplerfahrerin\u201c.<\/span><\/p>\n

Und schlie\u00dflich noch die Altersverteilung<\/strong> aller Hauptcasts.<\/span><\/p>\n

Es l\u00e4sst sich schnell zusammen fassen: weniger und vor allem j\u00fcngere Frauenrollen. Die Spitze ist in der Gruppe der 36 bis 40-J\u00e4hrigen<\/span><\/strong> erreicht, danach f\u00e4llt die Kurve deutlich ab. Bei den M\u00e4nnern kommt die Spitze erst 10 Jahre sp\u00e4ter<\/span>, wobei auch die folgende Gruppe (51 bis 55<\/span>) noch sehr stark vertreten ist.<\/span>
\nZweite Auff\u00e4lligkeit ist der Einbruch in die Normalverteilung der Gruppe zwischen 21 und 25 Jahren<\/span> bei den M\u00e4nnern und der zwischen 21 und 30 Jahren<\/span> <\/strong>bei den Frauen. Viele Schauspielerinnen und auch Schauspieler ab Mitte 30 haben die Tendenz, ein bis zu 10 Jahren j\u00fcngeres Spielalter anzugeben (also z.B. als 35-j\u00e4hre ein Spielalter von\u00a0 25 \u2013 35 zu nennen), um auch f\u00fcr j\u00fcngere Besetzungen in Frage zu kommen. Zumindest die Altersverteilung in den 2013er ZDF-Fernsehfilmen der Woche legt nahe, dass das \u00fcbehaupt nichts bringt, denn da gab es gar nicht viele Rollen.<\/span><\/p>\n

Summary<\/strong>: An analysis for a group of 46 tv dramas from 2012 on German public television (ZDF Fernsehfilm der Woche) was undertaken in regards to the distribution parts and ages among actresses and actors. Once again we encounter more and older parts for actors. A ray of hope: more than 50 % of the cast lists were headed by actresses.<\/span><\/p>\n

Nearly every Monday at 8.15 P.M. the second German channel (ZDF) shows a tv drama of the week. In the group of 46 films for 2012 there was a 3\/4 majority of criminal investigation or even thriller stories. The film were mainly directed by men, only 9 %<\/span> <\/strong>had a female director<\/strong> (in the German association of film directors the share of women is 24 %, this is indicated in the graph by the green diamond). For the scripts<\/strong> the figures for female writers are 35 %<\/span><\/strong> (for the tv dramas) and 40 %<\/span><\/strong> (for the screen writers\u2019 guild).<\/span><\/p>\n

\"FFilm13_RegBu_Gen_e\"<\/a>This means that only every 3rd story was written bei a woman and less than every 10th story was put on the screen by a woman.<\/span>
\nIs that bad? Do all men tell stories completely different from all women? No, naturally not. But such an imbalance naturally is not natural either. It would be interesting to research the statistics for film schools and see how many women and men are trained every year for the vairous crew departments. But that is a topic for some other day.<\/span><\/p>\n

Now let us have a look at the casts<\/strong>, what do we find? The next figure gives us the statistics on the main casts of the 46 tv dramas as listed on the webpage of the ZDF Der Fernsehfilm der Woche<\/a> <\/b>\u00a0with on average roughly 10 parts per film. On the left we see share of women and men for all parts of the main casts, and on the right the shares for the very first part on the list of each film. <\/span><\/p>\n

\"FFilm13_erstg_e\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The ratio for female<\/strong> <\/span>and male roles in the main cast is 1<\/span><\/strong> to 1,6<\/span>. For the firstly named roles the share of women is 54 %<\/span><\/strong>. Up to now I never had such a high value for a share of women when investigating the casts of groups of films. Sure, for individual films we get high and even higher figures, but never for a group. This is remarkable at least.<\/span>
\nOne modification I must add though. I have not seen all these films, so I have to rely on the description of the stories on the ZDF webpage. There are at least two films mit a female part first on the list that have a plot description centering around a male part. In both cases these are films that belong to \u201eReihen\u201c (maybe we can call this mini mini series, they sometimes go on for years, but only with two or three films a year). FREIER FALL is part of the \u201eStralsundkrimis\u201c (criminal investigation films taking place in Stralsund, a lovely town in the north of Germany), and in the description the firstly named female part only appears in 6th position in the plot description. This may be accidental, or it could be that she is generally the main character of the films but only this time she has stepped a little into the background. The second film N\u00c4GEL MIT K\u00d6PFEN is the second of a mini series (first episode was called BUTTER BEI DIE FISCHE), the firstly name character is Petra Koslowski, but the plot description centres more around\u00a0 ist Hans-Uwe Petersen\u00a0(Peter Heinrich Brix). I don\u2019t want to spoil things but I would like to at least ask to consider that an evaluation of firstly named parts is less signifcant than an evaluation of e.g. the shooting days for every actress and actor in a film. What could also prove interesting is the evaluation of the jobs and professions of the leading characters,\u00a0 which of course would be a topic for another day. For now I will just mention the professions of the two characters already mentioned: Katharina Wackernagel (FREIER FALL) plays a chief inspector of the police and Ulrike Kriener plays the common law wife of a protestant pastor, she is only descriped by the regional attribute \u201eRuhrpottpflanze\u201c (I am sorry, I have no idea how to translate that. It means that she was born and bread in the Ruhrgebiet, which is a region in the west of Germany, formerly know for heavy industry and mines, and down to earth people.) and \u201eLebensk\u00fcnstlerin\u201c (again, what is the English word? Let\u2019s say a streetwise person who sails through life \u2013 literally it means artis of life). Actually we learn in the first film of this mini series (BUTTER BEI DIE FISCHE) that the character is \u201ea former panel transporter driver\u201c.<\/span><\/p>\n

And now finally let\u2019s have a look at the age distribution<\/strong>:<\/span><\/p>\n

\"FFilm13_Alter_e\"<\/a>To sum up: less and younger parts for women. The peak of the female age distribution curve is reached in the group of the<\/span> 36 to 40 year olds<\/span><\/strong>, then the curve drops drastically. The peak for the men is reached ten years later, at 46 to 50 years, and the following group,<\/span> 51 to 56<\/span>, is also still quite strong.<\/span><\/p>\n

Something else I find quite remarkable is the incursion quite at the beginning of both curves, we see that in the values of\u00a0 the<\/span> 21 to 25 year old males<\/span> and the<\/span> 21 to 30 year old females<\/span><\/strong>. Many actresses and also actors from their mid-thirties on or even earlier have a tendency to give a distinctly lower playing age in their c.v.. For example someone who is 35 would give 25 to 35 as playing age (instead of maybe 30 to 40, or 32 to 38), in the hope of being considered for much younger parts as well. But judging from the statistics for the 46 tv dramas here this comes to no avail, since there were not so many younger parts to be cast.<\/span><\/p>\n
