Work-life balance in the film industry: Testimonials, Part II
At this point, I’d like to return to the topic of balancing a career in film with family life, and in this context I’d like to draw your attention to another website of mine: All for the Film Family.
In December 2024, I posted links here to the first three interviews with film-makers about their personal stories of work-life balance: Nadja Radojevic (CEO of International Film School Cologne), director Charlotte Rolfes and director of photography Christine Buchmann; see also … and Baby Makes Three.
Today, I’d like to introduce you to interviews four to six, featuring
- Actress / producer Nina Kronjäger, who seamlessly transitioned from the role of mother (twins!) to the caring role of daughter (two parents) – next to working as an actress,
- Film composer / musician Vanessa Donelly, who became a mother at the beginning of her career and who today has built a binational sort of patchwork family of a special kind with her husband and au pairs,
- opera singer Verena Usemann of the organization Bühnenmütter (stage mothers). I talked with her not about film jobs but stage jobs and compatibility – and especially about the fantastic Culture Care Project of the Bühnenmütter
(We definitely need something similar for the film industry.)
