Annual Review of German TV cop drama TATORT 2025 and a Recommendation
Here is the belated analysis of the 36 TATORT episodes that premiered last year. A little late, I’m afraid.
During the 2025 TATORT summer break (TATORT Summer 2025 – First Interim Target Achieved), I had suspected that the high proportion of women in the six core departments would not hold up until the end of the year; – and indeed, this is what happened, just as in previous years:

I can’t say why that is; to do so, I’d need to know, for example, how decisions are made about when which episode of *Tatort* is broadcast, or at least who makes those decisions, so that I could ask them. Instead, here and now:
- 36 TATORT episodes in brief: a look at the six trades and #2of6
- Aide: Old men, young women
- New team, missed opportunity
- The dismantling of a long-serving officer, including a digression on #whatifshe’sALIVE.
- A TV crime drama well worth watching
- Bonus: First half of 2026
